About
Mind the Weeds
Our Farm
The Farm in Glenville is a small farm in Glenville, Nova Scotia, located between Mabou and Inverness on beautiful Cape Breton Island. It’s my farm-to-table dream. The farm is operated by my husband, Douglas, me, and our chief snoopervisor, Bob, a retired racing greyhound. I make all of our unique products from scratch using what we grow. Our products include artisanal preserves, confections, and farm-to-bar chocolate.
While we are not certified organic, we use natural and traditional farming methods and common sense. Our Integrated Pest Management Plan uses barriers and companions as prevention and natural solutions, as an example is we use manual pulling, ground covers, and vinegar, rather than chemical herbicides on weeds.
Our farm and my entrepreneurial farm-to-table dream became a reality because of my husband, family, and friends’ support. We have learned so much and feel blessed to have received all the support and encouragement from our family, friends, other businesses, and customers. Thank you!
Founded in 2020, I began with sugar-free offerings. This year, 2024, we’re expanding our offerings and introducing a range of new wholesome products, catering to a broader audience. As artisan farmers, we’re excited to offer our customers more deliciously adorable, unique farm-to-table products. Of course, we will still be making our unique and delightful La Femme Nikketo sugar-free products.
All our products are nut-free because I have an anaphylactic allergy to peanuts and tree nuts.
We currently sell our products at markets around Nova Scotia and online. In season, from the first Sunday in June to the second Sunday in October, you’ll find us at the Mabou Farmers’ Market.
We appreciate your support as we grow.
